High-Resolution Kinoform X-Ray Optics Printed via 405 nm 3D Laser Lithography

An article published by Advanced Materials Technologies investigates making the focusing of x-rays more efficient using kinoforms, which are diffractive x-ray optics. The investigations used a custom-built 3D laser lithography setup and a “40% improvement in scanning transmission X-ray microscopy image resolution” was achieved.

Silson’s silicon nitride membranes (500  𝜇m  ×  500  𝜇m  ×  100  nm) in silicon frames (5  mm  ×  5  mm  ×  100  𝜇m) were used as substrates, enabling the characterization of the kinoforms in x-ray microscopy experiments
