In some cases it is useful to find or locate particles on our membranes in order to take measurements of them (for example with STXM). We have introduced our Finder Grids to allow for straight-forward measurement taking by locating particles relative to a ‘position’ on the grid.
Here is an example of one of our finder grids, consisting of a 1.0 x 1.0 mm membrane within a 5.0 x 5.0 mm frame, the finder grid is a 20nm gold layer with a 5nm titanium adhesion layer, which is coated on top of the membrane: a 10 x 10 array of squares, running from A1 – I9 in each corner – meaning each vertex on the grid is distinguishable from the others.
Take a look at the images below taken on our scanning electron microscope:
We are able to customise the pattern, the membrane size and thickness and also the frame size and thickness to meet customer requirements!
