Correlative optical photothermal infrared and X-ray fluorescence for chemical imaging

Light: Science & Applications published a study in July 2021 investigating the structural and chemical information in a single neuron. Techniques of microspectroscopy and synchrotron-based X-ray fluorescence were used to capture elemental distribution in neurons which is needed to understand the role of molecular structures and trace elements within a single neuronal cell.
